■ The Crescendo Summer Institute South Africa (CSISA) will be staging two concerts at the Dutch Reformed Church, Durban Road, Durbanville. The first is today, Thursday April 5, at 7.30pm, with the professional staff of the CSISA performing Beethoven’s Clarinet Trio, Cassals’s Requiebros, Mendelssohn’s Trio in D minor, Massenet’s Meditation from Thais, and Dalla sua Pace from Don Giovanni by Mozart, among others.The artists are Michael Makarov (violin, from Frankfurt), Tamas Tarjani, pictured, (tenor, from Munich), Dandre Strydom (clarinet, from Bloemfontein), Anmari van der Westhuizen (cello, from Bloemfontein), and Liezl-Maret Jacobs (piano, from Durban). Tickets are R100 or R70 for pensioners and are available at the door. This group will perform Creative Church on Friday April 6, at 7pm. Entry is free. The programme will consist of continual devotional music with scripture readings in between.
